The Reverend Jonathan "Jon" Scanlon, D.Min., LMSW

A life-long Presbyterian Christian, baptized as an infant at Madison Square Presbyterian Church in San Antonio by the outgoing Moderator of the UPCUSA, Rev. Scanlon began serving First Presbyterian Church in Plainview, in March of 2022. He graduated with degrees from U.C. Davis, Princeton Theological Seminary, The Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas, and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Rev. Scanlon did an additional year of graduate study at Rutgers the State University in New Brunswick, NJ. Prior to serving FPC Plainview, he participated in the two-year Transition-into-Ministry residency funded by the Lilly Endowment, served the PC(USA) as a Young Adult Volunteer in Mission, as Commissioner from the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta to the 208th General Assembly, served on the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship's National Committee, and local congregations in Atlanta, Mississippi, Nashville, Austin, western Pennsylvania, and Flagstaff. Jon is an avid follower of baseball, committed to case management with the marginalized and under-housed, and enjoys keeping in touch with friends from former congregations, classmates, and his high school youth group.
