Pastor's Update

Okay, we're off and running with a new 'semester' of church life and worship! Our Sunday School classes have begun, with an adult study walking through the books of the New Testament, taught by Drs. Gene Whitfill and Kevin Sweeney. The children and and youth will enjoy a 'hands-on' Sunday School class taught by TXDot Engineer Heath Bozeman. The plan is to build actual scale model versions of construction projects in the Old Testament, like Noah's Ark, Solomon's' Temple, the Ark of the Covenants, that sort of thing. This has always been a fun and well received class for those who enjoy getting their hands dirty while at the same time learning the stories of the Bible.

The Choir has started up again as well, and we we are trying something new, rehearsing for three Wednesdays of the month, and taking the fourth Wednesday off, celebrating the Lord's Supper in the pews with their families. On the 4th Wednesday of each month, our newly minted 'Praise and Worship' Band, "Fourth Watch" will rehearse, and will offer music for the following Sunday and throughout the month, leading the congregation in learning and singing contemporary Christian music.

We invite everyone to come and participate in our discipleship and worship opportunities here at First Pres. It looks like it's going to be a  fun year!
