Pastor’s  Update (Friday, Mar 7)

As I enjoy the beautiful weather today in my shirt sleeves, it’s hard to imagine that it might snow tomorrow. But, apparently, that’s in the forecast. It’s hard to know how to dress these days, isn’t it?

And since it’s supposed to not be so very nice tomorrow (Saturday, Mar 8), what a great time to enjoy a hearty breakfast with the men of the church at 8:00 tomorrow morning. Bacon and eggs and sausage and biscuits and gravy and coffee should ward off the final chill of winter, don’t you think?.

And then after breakfast, we invite EVERYONE in the church to come out for some spring cleaning. This is a chance for us to give our beautiful church a thorough dusting, mopping, window-washing, doorknob-shining, wood-polishing as we enter the Lent Season. We have a wonderful custodian, Pete Samarippa, whom you have never met, because he comes in and cleans for two hours at 5:00 AM every day, but there’s a few things that are beyond the scope of his duties, and that means that WE, the CHURCH, have the the opportunity to make our place of fellowship and worship a more beautiful place to live and work and play and pray. Please come and help for a couple of hours at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning. Many hands make light work.

You may have seen already that we have set up a ‘Daniel Plan Food Co-op’ with some hard-to-find whole-food type items in the kitchen. Karen has labeled the items with the original purchase price, but we encourage you to take what you need, and pay what you want. There are some plastic containers available, but it would very helpful if you brought your own containers to take stuff home with you. Below is a list of what we have.

For those of you who aren’t too sure that you want to dive into our six week-study of healthy eating, Dee Rice has graciously agreed to offer an alternative class in the parlor looking at the lectionary texts for each week. I will still be preaching on the lectionary, and so their should be some connections between them.

For those who want to take a look at the Daniel plan, we ordered the books last monday for those who wanted them, and we hoped they would be today, but they didn’t make it. The publisher assures us they will be in this Monday. We will take a look at the first video this Sunday at 9:15 (Sharp!) in the fellowship court.
